Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

A double win this week. Both Year 7 girls football and Year 7 boys football have won the U12 ISSF Football finals after a few weeks of fierce competition. A double win also for Jeffrey Han who returns from the World Geography and History Bee held in Bangkok. He placed in the top four for both sections of the competition. Huge thank you to the I&S faculty for their inspiration!

A triple win for Victoria Huang for excellence in academics, service and leadership who has received Princeton Club of Hong Kong 2019 Book Award. As a school we are most proud of her work with TEFL, teaching English at local schools and next term she plans to lead a group who will work with domestic helpers.

Great to have also received my personal WIS cutlery set from the Head Students. Thanks to them and the previous team, we are about to dispose of our last few plastic items. If you work in catering or have responsibility for facilities, you will know that large quantities of metal cutlery are thrown away accidently by customers. Most catering outlets use cheap disposable cutlery instead.

Taking responsibility for our planet, West Island students can purchase their own very stylish set of cutlery with a practical washable case. Please make sure your child either brings their own in the new term or purchases a set from us for $10 (reduced price for one week). Head Students will be selling them all next week and there will be no other disposable cutlery available in school from August.

Please note the PTA shop will be closed on Thursday 27 June and Friday 28 June for stocktaking. The PTA shop is open from Monday 24 June to Wednesday 26 June as normal. Please click here to read about the Annual PTA membership, Bus Pass Applications and stationary and uniform for 2019-2020.

To remind you that school will finish at 12.15pm next Friday after our final assembly.

Almost there…

Yours,
Christopher Sammons
(Principal)
