WIS Place Second at Inter-Schools Racing Event

Well done to Karrie Clark, Lewis Clark, Dylan Richards, Adam Pheasant, Thibault Minne and Eamon Lacy who competed at the Annual Inter-Schools team racing event in the Feva Division hosted by Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at Middle Island.

It was a long weekend with little wind and with 100 races to get through over the course of the event it was at times very frustrating.  WIS eventually got on the water at 3.00pm on Saturday and won all three races of the day.

On Sunday morning, they competed against Kellet School in what can only be described as the most nailing bite race ever.  Thankfully, the team managed too literally pip Kellet to the finish line winning all their round robin races and finishing as the school with the highest points.

Sadly Sunday’s weather made it literally impossible for the race committee to be able to complete all the races and so it was decided to take the four top teams from each division to determine who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

This once again left WIS up against their arch rivals the French International School.  Sadly, little wind meant this was more of a drifting competition than a sailing race and our heavier team were unable to get enough speed up to beat FIS – although they fought valiantly to the bitter end, leaving WIS finishing in 2nd place.

Well done to the team who represented WIS beautifully and did the school very proud.
