WIS Library: Newsbank Database

What is a Database?

A database is a collection of information that is often unavailable or challenging to find elsewhere.

The teachers at WIS encourage students to use the databases as the first step in any research project as materials contained in databases are credible.

For the next few weeks, we will look at some of the databases to which the WIS library subscribes.

newsbank

Discover the world’s largest full-text news database.

With thousands of sources, Access World News allows you to track issues, find information on people and events, and look for articles that contain a certain keyword or phrase. Learn how to search and locate different types of news content, including videos, transcripts, and online-only content.

There are more than 100 million current and archived articles that users can easily search, browse, print and email.

Newsbank has created a YouTube video to explain how to use the Access World News element of their outstanding database: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plo0E9A2Htg
