Swimathon for Jonathan Law

SWIM4Johnathan

Dear Parents,

I write to you to ask for your support of a member of our close school community. One of our pool Lifeguards, Jonathan Law, has been working at West Island now for over six years and is poolside daily ready for any emergency that maybe required. Not only does Jonathan (and Connie) spend hours staying alert to our swimming classes but Jonathan has always gone the extra mile helping with first aid, fixing goggles and building positive relationships with all students at West Island School.

It is with great sadness to report that Jonathan became very unwell during the Chinese New Year break and subsequently was admitted to hospital where he remains in a fragile state, being supported by machines to keep him breathing. His family are obviously devastated. Furthermore, as Jonathan is the only member of the family with a job, they have relied on him for support.

As a community who look out for one another, this is the time we come together and support a fellow member of the school’s community. The WIS PE Faculty will be hosting a SWIMATHON on behalf of Jonathan to celebrate his contribution to WIS and to send as much positive energy to him and his family during this tough time.

On Wednesday 24 February at lunchtime we invite ALL WIS students and teachers to come to the WIS Pool to swim 1, 2…100 lengths (!) in support of Jonathan’s fight. This is a purely voluntary event in which we ask you to make a cash donation when entering the swimming pool, as little or as large. ALL donations will be passed onto the family as assistance during this tough time.

All that is needed for this event to be a success is a voluntary monetary contribution to assist the family, a positive attitude to represent Jonathan in the water and swimwear!

Should you wish to make a donation yourselves, you will be more than welcome to do so. There will be a donation box at the main reception. Your kindness will be much appreciated.

Can I thank everyone in advance for all efforts made and the very kind thoughts towards our support of the Law family.

Mrs Jenny Craig
