Christmas Party at WIS for Refugees & Asylum Seekers

As a lead up to the festive season, members of West Island School put on a Christmas party for refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong as a part of their continued service to the community. Students and members of staff worked closely together to set up an afternoon which included festive art activities, games, food, presents and a visit from Santa Claus. Students were seen engaging with the members of the community who have very little in the way of possessions and little access to recreation.

In the end, students were able to gain immensely from understanding in practice what real service can look like giving time, organisation, as opposed to donations and funds, they can now see the real difference they can make, even for just one day.

Our thanks to Ms Maclean and all the staff involved in bringing this event to fruition.
