Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

The weeks have gone quickly, and it is great to see students settling into their routines. CAS activities have begun and most families have returned their permission forms. If you haven’t done so, please attend to this so that children don’t miss out. If you have problems logging into your parent account, don’t hesitate to get in touch and if all else fails we can send you a paper copy.

James Li attended staff briefing this week to present a book where he has an article featured James was presented with his own copy of the book by Carrie Lam for his inspiration and courage. He has been working hard with his family to raise awareness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy and to help influence HKSAR Government bringing a new medical treatment to Hong Kong. Our whole community is deeply proud of James. My heart felt gratitude to parents and students who support James in our community so he can achieve his personal best. A copy of the book ‘Love Never Ends’ is available in the library for student loan.

Jon Cheah (Class of 2018) also received an award from Carrie Lam on 23 August for the Hong Kong Scholarship Excellence Scheme (HKSES). It was a great honour for Jon to be selected as one of the 83 awardees out of the total 789 applicants this year. The award recognises Jon’s achievements in both academic and non-academic fields. With this award, Jon will receive financial support and networking opportunities from the HKSAR Government for his studies in Master of Mathematics at the University of Warwick.

I would also like to congratulate the PE faculty. They have waited patiently and diligently for news that the swimming pool can now be used again. After undergoing structural works during the summer months, we now hope to have the pool back for some time before we begin on the changing rooms and surface areas of the pool.

Enjoy a good weekend rest.

Yours,
Christopher Sammons
(Principal)
