Megan Lee wins Hong Kong Specimen Drawing Competition 2018

Congratulations to Megan Lee (Year 9) who took part in the Hong Kong Specimen Drawing Competition 2018 by the Royal Society of Biology Hong Kong Branch and won in the Junior Secondary category.

Megan’s piece of work – a cross section of a lobster – took her a month to complete. She chose to draw a lobster because “segmented animals are beautiful, and lobsters are easily accessible animals”.

She also added, “I joined the competition because I personally really enjoy drawing, and I believe in order to truly improve at art I needed to improve at anatomy. That being said, I tried to implement my own style into my drawing because as much as I wanted to look anatomically accurate, I wanted it to look visually appealing.”

Megan’s piece of work has garnered much notice at WIS particularly because of her keen attention to detail, accuracy and presentation.

Well done to Megan on a superb achievement! This is really fantastic!
