Marcus Chan at Junior Mathematical Challenge

Congratulations to Year 9 student, Marcus Chan who was invited to participate in the follow on round – the Junior Mathematical Olympiad. This competition consists of a two-hour paper of more in-depth mathematical problems. The invitation has been issued to around 1200 of the highest scoring participants of the JMC from different countries. We are very delighted with the success of Marcus, who was awarded a Certificate of Distinction and a Silver Medal!

About 150 WIS students (Year 7 and 8) took part in the Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC) competition in April 2018, where 95 students receive a Gold/Silver/Bronze certificate.

Around 1200 pupils took part in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad 2018 and only the top scoring 25% of all candidates received a Certificate of Distinction.

Well done to Marcus on his fantastic achievement!
