Circle in the Water – Arts Festival 2015: Day 1

IMG_8033The Circle in the Water Arts Festival 2015 began on Tuesday, December 8 at West Island School and until the end of term, a number of workshops, performances and activities in Creative Arts.

Visual artist Leanne Claxton, best known for her work with major brands in London, Paris, New York, Spain and Hong Kong, visited the campus to explain the art of creating and designing prints on fabrics. Her stunning floral designs wowed students and staff alike.

Later, students had the chance to meet and interact with artist Marsha Roddy, expert in 3-dimensional space. She walked students through different 3D artforms and how it has an looks in different lights and textures.

West Island’s own art teachers, Mr Stanley, Ms Oxford and Ms Dryland worked with students to create and put up an art installation.

And lastly, the students Edgemead High School from South Africa performed on site as they complete their tour to Asia. The forty minute concert featured 16 musicians and African/South African themes. Using the marimbas as their instruments, the young students wowed the audience with their unique dancing and singing. View the concert on our YouTube channel here.
