Reading Week 2016

West Island School’s annual Reading Week took place last week and was a grand success. The week began with the ever popular Character Dress Up Day, where students and staff all dress up as popular book characters. From Harry Potter to the ugly sisters from Cinderella, WIS students outdid themselves with great ideas. Staff too came dressed to the T with the English Faculty dressing up as Robin Hood and his Bandit of Thieves and the office staff dressing up as The Seven Dwarves and the Evil Witch.

The following days saw a number of events taking place during lunch. On Tuesday lunch, students were seen making Popsicle bookmarks and on Thursday lunch, students were able to watch “The Thief Lord” in the library. On the last day of Reading Week, the much awaited ‘WIS Weakest Link’ took place with Ms Foxcroft taking on the role of Anne Robinson and testing students on their knowledge of the English subject. It was a fun lunch time event and Ms Foxcroft had students in splits with her witty remarks and comebacks.

Many thanks to the English Faculty for all their hard work in organising the week.
