Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

Looking back, it has been an extremely successful year for sports and we have been named overall champions for boys and girls in the ISSF Athletics Competition. Banners were held up on the podium by athletes from Year 7 through to Year 13. Congratulations to five of the teams who in addition, won their sections.

A smaller but equally notable success from our Equestrian Team who competed in the Lower Division at the HKEF Competition, Lo Wu. Congratulations to Sophia and Kyra.

After a long road to success which began in September, four WIS students made it to the final selection of the Hong Kong Young Writers Award. Congratulations to all finalists and to Gayathri who has been awarded the Fiction Prize amongst some tough competition from other international schools with her story ‘The Second Journey‘.

Today we celebrate students in our Awards Ceremony. It is a great occasion to bring us together and recognise the values which we are promoting in our next generation. Please look out for the pictures and students who have been cited by faculty, students and the wider community.

A new date for your diary is Tuesday 24 April. We have been offered to show a screening of the acclaimed “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety”. The film features candid interviews with children and young adults discussing their anxiety and its impact on their lives, it includes a special interview with Michael Phelps, mental health advocate and one of the greatest athletes of all-time. The documentary is followed by the opportunity for parents to ask questions of the producers who are specialists in their field. A useful coincidence to be offered this around examination time and open to all year levels, please do sign up

The entire student community is deserving of rest and recuperation and we wish you all a peaceful Easter and safe journey.

Yours,
Christopher Sammons
(Principal)
