Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

A huge thank you for the work of the PTA, parent volunteers, teachers and students. Last Saturday was a fantastic day to bring our community together. Students performed a variety of music styles, experienced virtual worlds and worked to raise awareness and funds for their service projects at the School Fair. Our differences were celebrated through food; the variety and quality more than worthy of the best restaurants in Hong Kong. A full list of winners has been drawn for the raffle and we are very grateful for everybody who bought tickets.

A number of students have begun to achieve their Gold Awards over the last two weeks and congratulations are due for effort and service throughout the year. Well done to:

This week saw the finals of WIS Chef 2019. Aurelien Toucas and William Tiang from Year 8 won the Junior competition and James Liang has won the Senior section (you may remember that James won the ESF Junior section last year so he is back to win a Senior title). All entrants cooked to a high standard with impressive and tasty dishes judged by Mrs Murchie and Mrs Carey. Good luck for the ESF finals which we stand a good chance of winning again this year!

Wednesday saw a range of creativity on display through Year 9 Personal Projects which covered inquiries as diverse as Culture Through Dance to the Effects of Plastic Waste in the Ocean. Finally, IB Art Students exhibited their portfolios with some exceptional interpretations and expression using a range of media.

More creativity to follow next week as we welcome the Spring Gala Concert.

Hopefully see you there.

Yours,
Christopher Sammons
