Years 7-9

The underlying principle is that students are entitled to a curriculum that is broad and balanced.  In Key Stages 3 & 4 all students take subjects which provide coverage of the following areas of learning:

 Expressive and Creative

Linguistic and Literary

Mathematical

Physical and Recreational

Scientific

Human, Social and Environmental

Religious, Spiritual and Moral

Technological

 This range of experience is achieved by providing a core of compulsory subjects and a set of optional subjects for students to choose from. The curriculum by year group is as follows:

Yr 7:

 Core: Mathematics, English, Science, PE, Art, Drama, Learning for Life, ICT, Design and Technology, Humanities and Music.

Optional (2 subjects from): Mandarin, Spanish, French, EAL and Learning Support. Students who choose two languages must study Mandarin as one of them.

Yr 8:

 Core: Mathematics, English, Science, PE, Art, Drama, Learning for Life, ICT, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Religious Studies and Music.

Optional (either 1 or 2 subjects from): Mandarin, Spanish, French, EAL and Learning Support. Students who choose two languages must study Mandarin as one of them.

Yr 9:

 Core: Mathematics, English, Science, PE, Art, Drama, Learning for Life, ICT, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Religious Studies and Music.
