Year 7 Service Day

To get a better understanding of the food wastage problem in Hong Kong, the Year 7 Service Day was focussed on understanding this issue and subsequently, how they can help to ensure they do not add to the food wastage problem.

Students were first given facts and figures which gave them a better idea of how much food is wasted in Hong Kong, how a large number of people live on very little and have to make do with the bare minimum. Using all this information, Year 7 students then went about designing a soup which was not only cost effective, but nutritious too.

Students then spent the entire morning cooking this soup from scratch. The soup was sold during lunch and all proceeds went to Feeding Hong Kong. Soup was also made for the Street Sleepers which was served to them later in the day.

Well done Year 7!
