WIS will once again have a team running in the Matilda Hospital Sedan Chair Race on Sunday 30 October 2011 at Matilda Hospital on The Peak.
Eight students from the Upper School will be competing in the “serious challenge” category which involves carrying a sedan chair around a hilly 2.1 km course. Adult teams have to carry a “living, breathing passenger” while the school teams carry a 10kg bag of rice.

The event is one of the major charity events on the Hong Kong Charity calendar and it supports 37 local charities.

The racing starts at 10:00 with a large bazaar from 12:00. It really is a great family day out and if you are interested in more details then follow this link:

There is a Parent Forum advertised for the 13th December in the school diary entitled “Upper School Curriculum and University Pathways”. This topic has already been covered during the September forum in September and so the December forum has been cancelled.

Canadian Colleges and Universities Mini Fair

If you are considering study options in Canada then come along to the “Canadian Colleges and Universities Mini Fair” at lunchtime on 7 November 2011. The event will take place between 12:30pm-1:30pm at West Island School. Click here for more information.

Christmas Sale

A family at WIS has generously donated a wonderful range of W H Smith Christmas merchandise including cards and crackers. These items will be on sale at the Year 7 Parents’ Evening, on 8th November, and at the Year 9 and Year 11 Options Evening on 22 November 2011. Parents are also welcome to drop into the PTA shop to purchase these items during school days between 9 am and 3 pm.

School Fair

The planning for the school fair is now underway and we are starting to collect items for the various stalls, which include “New Items”, “Book Stall”, and “Second Hand Toys”. If you have any donations please contact the PTA office by calling 2816 7222 or by email on pta@wis.edu.hk

Raffle Prizes: We are looking for donations for the school raffle, which will be drawn on the day of the fair. If you would like to make a donation or alternatively, have any contacts who might be able to help us to secure donations, then please let us know.
