Seeking a parent member of school council

Dear Parents

As of today we have not received any nominations for the school council. The council is a school body that has responsibility for overseeing both the work of the school and my work as Principal.

We really do need to have a parent member to replace Jackie Simpson who has recently stepped down and I would appreciate it if you could send me any nominations using the forms attached by October 6th latest.

The duties are not onerous but the role is a vital one for the school.

Safety of your Child

I wrote at the start of term regarding the pick-up and drop-off of students at Sandy Bay Road.

I would like to remind you again that there should be no pick up of students from this area between 3.15 and 3.40 as there are large school buses and numerous students as well as parents arriving for swimming lessons. We are extremely concerned that parents are still picking up their children and are very concerned that if this continues it may well result in an accident.

Please help us to protect our students by asking your child to wait for you to come and pick them up a little later!

Thank you

Jane Foxcroft
Principal

Links with South American Spanish speaking countries

Dear Parents,

We are looking for some help in establishing some links with South American Spanish speaking countries.

Could you contact me if you have any links or contacts which you feel would be helpful.

ESF Swimming Championships - Students' report

Last Friday, the WIS swim team went to South Island School to compete in the annual ESF swimming competition. The day was an overall success with WIS bringing home the first place trophy for the second time running. With a team of more than 60 people, we were the biggest and the best looking team there, as MrLant would say. With many people winning their heats and achieving personal best times, everyone went home with a smile. Everyone on the team made a contribution, especially in some very close relays.
We would like to thank our various captains for organizing relays etc. and to MrLant and Ms Greenwood for motivating and giving us the opportunity to swim. We would also like to thank the school swim coach, Adrian, for training us and giving us helpful tips before the race! Finally, we would like to thank the parents that came along to support us and to all our parents at home for taking us to training and overall motivation.  The next competition is at Canadian International School on September 27th (Y7 and C grade) and 29th (A and B grades).

Girls Senior A team Hockey

WIS A: 2 vs. HYS A: 0

please click on above image to see the hockey in action

The first game of the season started off with a bang. The team was able to meet Miss Caldwell’s high expectations. Our team, despite having never played together before, were able to work together successfully, leading to the victorious result of 2-0. First goal was a accurate push into the goal by Sally Choi, the second a beautiful slap into the D by Veronica Morlotti and deflected into the goal by Ella Morrison. Ms Caldwell named Harriet Newman coach’s player for her hard work and excellent distribution of the ball. Player’s player was Rebecca Mould for her directions and awareness on the pitch. Well done to the WIS A team, let’s continue this season on this high note!
