Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

Happy 2017! It was great to receive students back to school after such a long break. I really hope you spent some quality time together as a family and feel rested and prepared for the term ahead.

Whilst we have been away, it was excitement for Tanya Dhar who was selected to represent the Hong Kong U19s Dragons Ladies team at Prudential’s New Year’s Day Tournament. A huge well done also to Freddie Bull who was the only WIS schoolboy to play in the annual New Year’s Day match for Hong Kong U16s National Age Grade. It is a great achievement to be participating in these events after being scouted from hundreds of players across Hong Kong.

We are very pleased to let you know that Victor Tam of 10H2 also won runner up in the Solo Verse Speaking Competition of the Hong Kong Schools English Speech Festival. A tremendous success Victor!

Looking forward, for some, the term will go quickly as we begin to focus on final examination preparation and it will be important for students to pace themselves and balance both their work and their play over coming months. I would recommend parents to listen out for the upcoming talk organised by Mr Betteridge how to support your child through examinations.

For the weekend, I wish you well and here’s to a successful Sports Day next Friday.

Yours,
Christopher Sammons
