Creative Arts & Performance – Circle in the Water

At West Island School, we are a dynamic arts community which fosters and celebrates the arts and creativity. Playing music, performing in a theatre, concert or dance production, exhibiting film and artwork is a rewarding and fun experience. In addition to the study of the arts as a formal class subject through Year 7 to 13, the Creative Arts CAS programme extends classroom practice to include live performance and exhibition.

Circle in the Water is the brand name we give to all Creative Arts performance, exhibitions and productions created for our school and community audience.  Many of these performance and exhibition events are the result of the CAS programme offered by the school and the Creative Arts faculty.  This year, the faculty is offering a number of ‘creative’ activities as part of the CAS programme and we invite students to join by registering their intention and commitment through the enrolment system on Gateway.

Creativity, Activity and Service: Creative Arts
There are several creative arts led CAS activities on Gateway.  If you play a musical instrument or sing, you are invited to sign up for one of the music groups.  If you are interested in live theatre we hope you’ve signed up for this year’s theatre production of Arabian Nights.  It is not too late to still be involved.  There is Momentum Dance, WIS Shorts, Showstoppers, visual arts, and several other ‘creative’ activities listed as part of CAS programme offered by other WIS staff.  Students are also very welcome to create their own arts groups such as bands and may book studios to practice using the online booking system.

Private instrumental and voice lessons
West Island School offers private music tuition in a range of instruments.  If you are interested in learning a musical instrument or voice, please contact Ms Dalgarno for more information.
