HKSSF Athletics Day 1

 

            WIS once again took its place as one of only 2 co-educational schools in the intensely competitive Athletics Championship. Despite selection being affected by the Geography IB field trip to Thailand, there were many fire performances from West Island athletes and the highlights were;

 

  • 8th place- Jarrod Sarjana (Shot Put)
  • 6th place- Ella Morrison (1500m)
  • Bronze Medal- Tallulah Acton (Shot Put)
  • Silver Medal- Aishuah Duggie (1500m)

 

The following boys qualified for semi finals;

 

·        400m Hurdles- Nick Cheung + Sean Donald

·        200m & 400m- Evan Fu, Ben Thomson + Sean Widdowson

·        100m Hurdles- Ronnie Lo + Kabhir Laroia

·        100m- Jonathan Lai, Colin Skees + Brayden Lee

 

Those that made it to the final were;

 

·        400m- Chloe Cheung + Chloe Fung

·        1500m- Brian Leung, Ross Mason + Eddie Li

·        4 X 400m Relay- Girls A+B grade relay teams

 

HKSSF Athletics Day 2

 

            IN stark contrast to Day 1, the weather was cold, wet and windy. Many personal best performances were produced with some resulting in high placing:

 

  • Lara Gander- Silver Medal ( High Jump)
  • James Gibb- 9th place ( 300m )
  • Eddie LI- 6th place ( 5000m )

 

The athletes that qualified for finals were:

 

  • Bridget Kriesel- 800m
  • Ella Morrison- 800m
  • Kyla McCosh- 800m
  • Rukhaiya Ebrahim- 800m
  • Natalie Roux- 200m
  • Colin Skees- 100m

 

HKSSF Athletics Final Day

 

            ON the third and final day thankfully the weather conditions improved and this was conducive to an excellent day of athletics which saw many new records set, some Hong Kong and some West Island School:

 

 

  • Natalie Roux- 8th position ( 200m )
  • Bridget Kriesel- 10th position ( 800m- C grade)
  • Ella Morrison- 5th position  ( 800m- B grade)
  • Rukhaiya Ebrahim- 4th position ( 800m- A grade)
  • Kyla NcCish- 7th position ( 800m- A grade)
  • Ross Mason- 5th position ( 1500m )
  • Brian Leung- 6th position ( 1500m )
  • Colin Skees- 6th position ( 100m )
  • Chloe Fung- 5th position ( 400m- A grade )
  • Chloe Cheung- 8th position ( 400m- B grade )
  • Rukhaiya Ebrahim- 8th position  ( 400m- A grade )
  • A grade girls 4 X 400m “Dream Team” gain a medal

 

All six of the WIS boys and girls teams consolidated their place in Division 1. Congratulations to all athletes and to parents and staff who coached!
